Native Plant Nursery

~ Open Tuesday mornings 9 to 11 ~

We acknowledge the Quandamooka people, the traditional owners of the land on which our nursery is located. We pay respect to their culture and to Elders past and present.

The Nursery regularly donates plants to Bushcare, Coastcare and Indigiscapes for their revegetation and conservation work. We also sell plants to raise money and to help make our island an inviting place for native birds and animals.

New President

The Coochiemudlo Native Plant Nursery has a new President. We're very happy to welcome Julie Vegter to the role. We are also extremely grateful to Annette Drennan for leading our group over the past five years. Among her many contributions, Annette has fostered our relationship with Indigiscapes, whose staff have been very generous with their time and assistance.

Colleen Morgan continues as Secretary and Rae Wear as Treasurer.

Nursery members had a happy surprise when they found this Shepherd's crook orchid (Geoedorum densiflorum) growing in the nursery grounds. It is a terrestrial orchid that pops up around Coochie and grows in a wide range of habitats. Because of its tiny size, it is vulnerable to being swamped by  weeds. We will try growing it from seed, once the pods develop.
